The technology of blister sealing

The pre-formed blister is affixed to its backing via a sealing machine using heat. This backing might be plastic, cardboard or other types of paper. This method provides protection against external factors, such as humidity and contamination.

It is important to know about this technology that the backing is exposed to a relatively high temperature (140-200 °C) during the sealing procedure. Therefore this type of packaging is only suitable for products which endure a few seconds of such high thermal effects until the affixation is completed.

When is sealing the ideal method to be used?

Due to the nature of this design, it is a very cost-effective way of showcasing products. There is a wide range of possibilities how blister packaging can be constructed to feature, for example the paperback can be printed on both sides, providing advertising space to help build a brand or increase customer loyalty.

The technology of high frequency welding

In the case of high frequency welding, the front and back sides of the packaging are made of the same material (PVC, special PET, etc.), which method also provides the backing to be printed. During welding the plastic is exposed to a high frequency electric field, which causes the plastic to reach its melting point and joint the front and back sides.

Due to this technology, after the welding process the packaging will be completely airtight to protect your product from external contamination and other impacts, nevertheless the packaging cannot be opened without a cutting tool.

A crucial factor regarding this technique is that it can only be used with such products which cannot be damaged by this high frequency technology.

Closure is so effective that only sharp objects can cut through it, therefore products of higher value are usually packaged with such welding.
